Chapter 1:
So, there I was, stood in the Arc, with Enmi by my side. I loaded the Gauss rifle and aimed it toward the Arc core before pulled the trigger. The Spiri flowed across the room rapidly before engulfing the core in a ball of blue and purple light. Shockwaves swung round the room, sending pulses through Enmi’s and my body.
For a few minutes, I just stood there in the moment, shocked by the reality of what i was going to do. I felt Enmi speak my hand and looking at me. The pulses came faster now, but still I stood there, tears running down my face, the Spiri getting brighter and more powerful, pulling everything into its growing depths. Even through the ear-shattering noise of the Arc’s destruction, I heard Enmi’s cries. I turned to her to see her being whipped by the edges of the Spiri energy’s circumference which was growing in size, sapping the entire matter of the Arc core.
“Enmi!” I screamed. “You’ve got to leave, it’s too powerful.”
“I’m not going without you. I’m here till the end” she shouted in a pain stricken voice.
“This is my destiny not yours, I can’t let you stay,” and with that I slowly moved towards her while keeping my Gauss rifle trained on the now very faint outline of the Arc’s core. I could see the energy taking its toll on her. She was fighting to stay upright. I kissed her before reaching over to her and speaking into her ear.
“I’m sorry” I said, then I pressed the teleporter behind her and, before she realised what I was doing, I pushed her into it. I stood near the edge of the room contemplating what had happened despite the painful lashes of energy whipping onto me.
I moved to the edge of the Arc still blasting into the core. The whole Arc was shaking now due to the immense power being beamed directly into it. There was a high-pitched noise that was getting steadily louder. I fired off the last of the ammunition. I felt another powerful shockwave crash into me. I knew there was only one other thing I could do. This had to end now and I would do whatever it took.
I stepped towards the blinding light, pieces of the large room cracking and exploding all around me. Bits of the ceiling started raining down into the room and whizz down the core from the gravitional overload of power. At first it was onyl small pieces but as I struggled onwards the cracks and rubble came in larger quantities.
My hands glowed as I neared the centre of the room and I could feel the amazing light of the Arc. I could feel my heart pumping rapidly and my brain screeching at me to cease the unforgiving beating my body was trying to withstand. The pain was increasing and all of me was aching and throbbing. The force emanating around me was so enormous that once I was within 3 metres of the core the pressure on my chest meant I could no longer expand my lungs. So, holding my breath I held one hand in front of my face and the other reaching out until I felt the burning hot exterior of the dying core.
The blinding light had smouldered out my pupils and so my shredded hand fumbled for the Alomini lever. I found it and briefly remembered everyone I cared for. I imagined how things would carry on from here. I imagined what they would do. The communities returning to normal. A new, faithful ruler of the land. The regions restoring peace. I imagined all of these things for as long as my bodywould allow. I managed to pull off a smile as I imagined Enmi's face in front of me. I pulled the lever.
