They are NOT! Stephanie Meyers has f***ed up a whole generation of peoples minds into thinking vampires can be lovey dovey creatures who can have babies and are turned by getting another vampires blood into their system. It's ridiculous! Very Happy Now you know how i feel. I rest my case.

Okay then, explain The Saga of Darren Shan then. The vampires in there dont even have FANGS!
