Flashback

Vicky blinked, her head spinning for a moment. She realised she wasn't with the kids any more but in a boardroom with several suited government men.

"Who summoned me? Why have you taken me away?" she demanded. "They need me!"

"Calm down Miss Pine. You'll understand once we've explained. I doubt you were helping them much anyway. You didn't have a plan." said a grey aired man. "Not up to your usual standard, it seems."

"Fine, explain and be quick." Vicky glared.

"We can't go in there straight away, guns blazing and fix everything-"

"Why the hell not?"

"It would break the time space continuum. We have to operate so as to keep a certain timeline intact."

"Two students have died!" Vicky shouted.

"And hundreds more will die if we don't follow this thread." the man explained. "Time is fragile."

"You're at least going to close the school once you have fixed things, right?"

"No, we can't."

"It's a failure! A big target for psychos and emo kids with too much power. The teachers are messed up too. Professor Parsons killed a student in class the other day. You can't let this go on! You're the government for fuck's sake!"

"I'm afraid we can't. Not yet."

"Well I'm resigning."

"No. You must go back and work there for just a little while more otherwise all our work will be undone."

"Bastards." Vicky spat angrily.

"Now you need to go take Ethan and take him to the gym where he will be evacuated like the others have been. You will go too. We must leave the event to play out. We can only tweak a few things here and there up until a certain moment in time. You must understand."

Vicky stayed silent, forced to accept it but still glaring at them. A moment later she was put back where she was and she zoomed Ethan to the gym with her ability, manipulating things so that they weren't noticed to go. The two were evacuated to where the others were and could only watch.
