Liz ran a hand through her hair as kids filed past her, running over to mates or running over to the small game of football that had started. Liz felt a little out of place. She breathed in the cool air and smiled a little.

Liz didn't see him, she was staring at the front gate, where a white van was parked, the logo for a food company on the side. they were delivering some food to the school. But Liz was looking at the driver, who she swore she could hear.

Connor went up to her and flicked his hand in front of her line of vision. Earth to Liz? You alright?

Liz looked at him, the mans voice disappearing.
"Sorry? What?" she asked, blinking a few times. "Sorry, I was just..."
She glanced at the driver again, no longer hearing her voice, only then realisng that he hadn't been talking when she'd heard him.

Liz laughed a little and followed him over.
"You don't have to hang out with me just because I'm the new kid. I'm sure you're other mates would want you."

She rubbed her temple.

Its quite good, you should try it. They have a boating dock downtown if youre ever interested.

She looked at him.
"Maybe you could come and show us the ropes."
