It seemed unaffected by her efforts as it slowly crept up his neck, having already enveloped his torso and most of his limbs.

Jayce breathed in calmly, letting it take him.

The shadow didn't even waver as it finally spread to Jayce's face, covering his mouth and nose. Jayce's eyes looked at Ghost and Phoenix solemnly before closing.

Ghost didn't know what had hit him. One moment he was lying on the floor where he had dived. The next he had a blade to his throat and his arm was twisted behind his back.
