Chloe dragged Jack away from the window.
The animals will see you, she scolded.
Jack scowled and sat on the worn sofa standing next to the door. He crossed his arms over his chest and grunted. Chloe sighed and walked outt the room.
They were hiding out in a small flat in the middle of London. Chloe had brought them here two days ago, after having to leave their last placement because the animals attacked, killing the survivers that were with them. Chloe and Jack had been forced to leave while the rest tried to kill them. They had protested, but the people had made them move. They ran, but not before they heard the screams of their fellow survivers.

Chloe sighed and looked out the small window in the kitchen. It was raining, rain slashed against the window and lightening filled the sky. She raised the mug of cold water to her lips and drank.

Gerald had been on the rooftop with the sniper rifle pointed down to the ground for approximately two hours before he felt the first drop of rain fall onto his neck, sending shivers all around him. He decided to stay for another few minutes observing the animal behaviour. He didn't actually mind the rain; he liked it, but some of the equipment he had could not get wet as it would be ruined. He jotted down the last of his notes before disassembling his weapon and placing it on his back. The he inserted the scattered notes and diagrams back into his backpack and took a sip of water before moving to the edge of the rooftop, jumping up, spinning round and down, and landing with just barely his fingertips clutching onto the edge. He climbed down using the wires and indents on the side of the building to lower himself down two floors of the apartment block. He swung himself into the small opening of the window of the flat he was currently staying in and started to unpack his gear and notes for analysis.

Chloe heard a bang, she dropped the mug she was holding and picked up the wooden bat she used to kill the animals. She muttered to Jack to stay where the he was and walked out the door into the hallway. She slowly krept down the hallway, bat at the ready.
Anyone there? she called.

Gerald was in deep analysis but he had over time trained his senses to be aware of the slightest sound, movement or sight. He slowly reached for the small machine gun in front of him, as to not make any detectable noise, and rolled onto his back so that he could see the only not window entrance into the flat. He aimed at the door, finger on the trigger, for the slightest movement.

Chloe walked round a corner and heard movement from a nearby door. She krept up to it and placed her hand on the handle.
She took a deep breath and yanked open the door.

Before the door had opened even an inch Gerald raised the gun and pressed on the trigger sending a storm of silenced machine gun bullets towards it. He saw the hand that pushed the door handle too late to stop the fire and could only watch as at least three or four of them pierced the palm.

Chloe screamed as the bullets pierced her hand. She dropped her bat and fell through the door onto the floor. She gripped her hand and yelled out.

Jack heard and bolted out the flat, towards the sound.

Gerald dropped the gun he was holding and approached her with just a pistol on his waistband as a weapon. He grabbed some sterilized bandages and painkillers. I'm so sorry. He spoke. I'm sorry I'm just so jumpy right now.. Here. He pulled her hand over to him and examined the two bullet holes that had pierced her skin. This might sting a bit. He grabbed a cloth and dabbed at the wound before dressing it with the bandages. Take these to take the edge off He held out the painkillers in one hand and picked up a cup of water in the other for her to wash it down.

Jack arrived as Chloe took the pain killers.
What the----- What happened? he demanded.

(You come on at two in the morning?)

Gerald moved his hand to the pistol on the back of his waistband. Who are you? He barked.

I'n her brother! Who the hell are you!?

(LOL!)

I'm the guy who's trying to help your sister while your shouting at me! Shouting will only get us killed! So shut up and help me out! He threw him some clips to tie up the bandage with.

Jack glowered at him but concentrated in the whimpering Chloe. He clipped the bandage in place and picked up Chloe's bat. He slipped it into a pocket of his trousers and bent down next to Chloe.
What happened? he demanded.

I shot your sister twice with one of my guns, I thought she was one of them and had no choice. He filled the cup with water once more and offered it to her.

Jack cursed under his breath as Chloe took the water with her good hand. She winced as she drank.
Its not that bad, J, she said. She winced again.

I'm sorry I couldn't risk it. He looked at them sympathetically and sighed. But if you're not too far away your welcome to move your stuff into here, there's easily enough food and theres two others beds. He glanced back and forth between them, not sure if he wanted their company or not.

Its ok, seriously, it doesn't hurt that bad.
She winced again. Jack glowered at the other man.
Nah, we're find thanks. We've got an apartment just down the corridor.
J, we've got to stick together, so we can help each other out! protested Chloe.

Gerald looked between them waiting for them to decide. He decided to introduce himself whilst they were. I'm Gerald by the way. I'm gonna go wash my hands quickly the offer still stands.

I'm Chloe and this is my brother, Jack. I call him J.
Chloe smiled as he walked off.
J, we gotta stay! He's got a gun! We've got a bat! We'd stand more of a chance surviving with him than if we went our seperate ways!
Jack glowered at her and didn't say anything.

Gerald washed the blood off his hands in the makeshift cleaning sink.
